Just making a note of it

Three times this week BJ asked me if different people (kids) we know are adopted. Each time she was disappointed that I said no. This always came up when we were talking about the person, not about adoption.

wow. yeah. huh. always surprises me how little minds work. since my 4 yo asked if he had a sister he has randomly asked questions. makes me wonder what is really going on in his head? what is he actually thinking and feeling? does he wonder why his brother lives with us but his sister doesnt?

hugs to you and BJ.

Hi, Marlene.

I think that kids so want to be able to see themselves reflected in others, not just family, but friends, too. We have made a number of close friends through our adoption experience, families with whom we have socialized for years. The kids all know each other well, and I think it's been helpful to them to have had that connection, even if adoption itself hasn't been the topic of conversation when we get together.
